My art is about capturing the expressiveness of life through the medium of oil paint.
When I paint, I try to reproduce forms that the viewer will recognize, stylistically appealing, both emotionally and realistically. I learned painting by practicing classical techniques and have sought out the most beautiful and permanent natural pigments and materials. What I won't buy, I make for myself.
While I paint realistically, my goal has never been to merely copy or reproduce reality. Creation for me is all about the relationship between the artist and the subject. No matter the subject, every picture begins and ends working from life. Nature is my model and source material, along with my imagination.
I feel I have achieved true art when images I have created awaken a powerful emotional response in the viewer.
